Student Council
Student Council
We are delighted to have a Student Council in St. Brigid’s. The aim of the student council is to improve school life for everybody and provide an opportunity for pupils to voice their opinions and offer suggestions. We have student representatives from the senior classes, but we aim to include the views of the Junior classes as well.
We have elections every September where representatives are elected by secret ballot and take a seat on the council for the remainder of the school year. All student council representatives wear specially designed badges for identification. Regular meetings are organised and facilitated by Ms. McCabe. Prior to the meetings, ideas and suggestions are collected from all classes.
The Student Council play a central role in the organisation of school events such as Open days, special occasions, assemblies and focus weeks such as Seachtain na Gaeilge, Sports and Wellbeing week etc. They also contribute to relevant school policies.
Through the student council we hope to give our pupils a more active role in the organisation of our school and ensure their concerns and ideas are listened to and respected.
We are very proud of the role played by our students in developing our school and believe that we achieve a more positive learning environment as a result.
