Spanish

Spanish has more native speakers than any language apart from Mandarin Chinese, with 483 million speakers. It is an official language in 20 countries including Mexico, Colombia, Spain and Argentina. It is also the second most widely spoken language in the United States, after English, with 43 million speakers.

We are working with the “Say Yes to Languages” initiative to offer Spanish as a Modern Foreign Language to pupils from 4th-6th Class. This program aims to introduce a Modern Foreign Language to Primary School Pupils in a fun way, focusing on developing conversation skills and an interest in learning another language.

We have also supplemented this program with a range of dual language books available to our pupils to explore text in a Spanish-English format.
