Aistear
In our Infant Classes we incorporate Aistear as an important part of the day. Aistear is the early childhood curriculum framework for all children from birth to 6 years in Ireland. The framework uses four interconnected themes to describe children’s learning and development: Well-being; Identity and Belonging; Communicating; and Exploring and Thinking. Aistear promotes play as a keystone learning experience for young children.
We provide playful learning opportunities for our pupils by taking a thematic approach to learning in the infant classes, and encouraging our pupils to explore a theme through play based learning experiences such as socio-dramatic play, creative play, malleable play and construction play. This allows the children to develop important skills and learning dispositions such as communication, collaboration, confidence and perseverance which in turn will support them on their lifelong education journey.
