Transition to Primary School
We understand that the transition to Primary School is a very exciting (and sometimes daunting!) step for young children and their families. Our aim is to offer your son the best possible start to his time in Primary School. We are very proactive in our approach to ensuring that this transition is as child-friendly as possible. We have developed a Transition to Primary School Programme in order to support our new entrants and their families during this transition period. This includes:
-
January (prior to application for enrolment) – Pre-school Playdate. Prospective pupils and their parents are invited to come in for a fun filled playdate in our infant classes. This will allow pupils and parents to explore our infant classrooms, meet other prospective pupils, chat to our lovely staff and get a feel for our school.
-
May - Parent Information Meeting. Parents are invited in for a meeting with Ms. Cullen (Principal) where they will be given all the necessary information about starting their son in St. Brigid’s B.N.S. in September. Our rules and routines are detailed at this meeting, along with supports and resources for supporting your child as they start Primary School.
-
June - Meet the Teacher Day. Our incoming Junior Infants and their parents are invited into the school to meet their teacher, classmates and explore their new classroom.
-
July - Jumpstart Summer Camp. Pupils are offered the opportunity to come into school during the first week of July for a fun filled summer camp which is tailored to our incoming Junior Infants. This is a fantastic opportunity for your son to explore his new school, make friends and feel confident about starting school in September.
